Social Housing California is committed to protecting the privacy of people who visit this site and sign up for our campaign updates. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, and the third-party services we rely on.

Information You Share With Us

When you sign up through our contact form, we collect the information you choose to provide. Depending on the version of our form, this may include your name, email address, ZIP code, mailing address, phone number, and any optional fields the form presents at the time. We use this information solely to send you updates about the Social Housing California campaign, including legislative news, organizing opportunities, and action alerts.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

How Our Sign-Up Form Works

Our sign-up form is provided by 123FormBuilder. When the form loads, it also loads Google reCAPTCHA, which helps prevent automated spam submissions. Both services may set cookies and collect technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) for the purpose of operating and securing the form.

If you submit the form, your information is transmitted to 123FormBuilder's servers and is then made available to Social Housing California campaign staff. Please review:

Analytics

We use GoatCounter to count page views and understand how the site is used. GoatCounter is intentionally privacy-respecting: it does not use cookies, it does not track individual users across sessions, and it does not collect data that could identify you personally. The data we see is limited to aggregate page-view counts, the referring page (where you came from), your country (derived from IP address), and your browser type. Your IP address is processed but not stored. See the GoatCounter privacy policy for details.

Translation

This site includes a language toggle that uses the Google Translate widget to provide an automatic Spanish translation. When you activate the toggle, your browser loads a script from Google that translates page content. This may involve sending the page contents to Google's servers, and Google may set cookies to remember your language preference. The translation is automated and may not be perfect. Embedded Videos

This site embeds short video stories from YouTube — both inside the interactive map and in the "What is Social Housing?" section. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which means YouTube does not set tracking cookies until you actively start playing a video. Once you press play, YouTube's standard terms apply.

Web Fonts

This site uses fonts hosted by Google Fonts to display text. When the site loads, your browser requests these fonts from Google's servers, which logs your IP address and browser information. Google Fonts does not set cookies and states that this information is not used for advertising or to identify you. See Google Fonts & Privacy for details.

Hosted Images

Some images on this site are served from GitHub's content delivery network (raw.githubusercontent.com). When images load, GitHub may log standard server information including your IP address. GitHub's logging is governed by the GitHub Privacy Statement.

Cookies

This website does not set its own tracking cookies. However, the third-party services described above (123FormBuilder, reCAPTCHA, YouTube once you start a video, and Google Translate when activated) may set their own cookies governed by their respective privacy policies.

Your Choices

You can unsubscribe from our email updates at any time using the link in any campaign email, or by emailing us directly at info@housingnowca.org. You may also request that we delete the information you've provided.
